Devanahalli is a peri urban town outside Bangalore city. This is a hand stitched stole I made depicting one lane in this town. Each part of the lane as I observed, had a certain characteristic feature to it. Be it with respect to the occupation of the people, the color palette, or even the basic geography of the area. This lane was diverse in every aspect.
This stole is a representation of the geography of this lane through the medium of found fabric. All the fabric I have used in this stole belongs to the people of Devanahalli. Each part of it connects you to a different part of the lane and this stole can prove to be a great source of how the lane looked in 2011. It can be a medium of comparison of how much the lane has changed over the years in the future. |
